Rare Russian Silver Brocaded Silk Ikat Kavanat

This beauty dates to the late 18th century, and was probably part of a wedding shawl or robe. Made in Russian workshops, the taste and styling was often oriental in character. This piece emplys the ikat technique which was learnt from Central Asia, and is brocaded elegantly in silver thread. A high quality item and a rare collectors piece.
