Khamseh Small Carpet
Woven with fine lustrous wool and rich dyes, this is a lovely example of Khamseh weaving from the late 19th century. The conjoined medallions on the sapphire blue field are filled with various geometric ornaments and are surrounded by myriad chickens and quadrupeds. There are several borders which are different and filled with geometric ornaments. This small carpet has great tribal character but is also very decorative. The pile is glossy and velvety and has survived in very good condition with only a few traces of wear . Original selvages are intact. The ends are good. Ready for immediate use.
