Oushak Runner
This charming and narrow runner comes from Western Turkey and dates to the last years of the 19th century. All wool foundation and wool pile. The colours are all derived from natural dyes. The background is a lovely soft terracotta red with very attractive secondary colours including an aquamarine, green, yellow and aubergine. The design is simple, elegant, yet quite detailed, centred by a row of stylised floral ornaments and serrated leaves which is framed by a delicate meandering vine border on an aquamarine field. All very lovely. It is a good size, with a narrow width, ideal for narrow corridors. The condition is good with an even pile throughout, the original sides and ends have survived intact. It has been professionally washed with minor restorations and is now ready for immediate use.
