Yomut Spindle Bag

The Turkmen weavers in Central Asia are known for their diverse domestic weavings. The format of this piece, known as an 'Igsalyk' or spindle bag, is open to the side, and was hung in the yurt primarily to store items used for wool spinning. This fine example is complete with the original plain weave back and tassels. Generally good condition. A stain to the back. The design on the front is more often seen on Turkmen textiles. Very collectible.
